A brief history

Alex Badley – social entrepreneur

Alex began his journey with a passion for sustainable and ecologically-sound tourism. Over time, he expanded his experience and beliefs to encompass the fields of social change, economic development in rural and urban settings, and the development of cultural and ecological policies.

Based in North West Wales, he has been at the forefront of engaging and empowering local communities, liaising with and providing consultancy services for the voluntary sector, local government agencies, European funding and development bodies, and private enterprises.

Alex does not accept that one cannot be an idealist and a pragmatist. This approach has proved invaluable in dealing with the challenges of environment, social change and territorial cohesion. His enthusiasm and tireless energy has helped bring about a seachange at a local level, developing the perceptions and actions of local government and the local community.

Through engagement with the ESPON 2013 Programme, Alex hopes to develop a network of like-minded individuals and organisations to bring about social, economic and environmental change in North West Wales and the wider Regions.
